2023 Helen Strobl Memorial Scholarship Award Recipient

The 2023 Helen Strobl Memorial Scholarship Award of $2,000 was presented to Northport High School’s Andrew Reid, a student who has demonstrated academic achievement and a commitment to pursuing an education and career in the field of nursing.  This award is presented in honor and memory of Helen Strobl, the first Executive Director of Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk, a Baccalaureate and Masters nursing graduate herself, and a strong proponent of higher education for all nurses. She joined Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk as Supervisor of Nurses and Director in 1962 and led the organization through a period of growth and change until her retirement in 1980. Under her leadership and that of her successor, Linda Taylor, who has served as Chief Executive Officer for the past 43 years, Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice of Suffolk has been committed to providing only the highest standards of quality, compassionate care for all its home care and hospice patients. VNSHS is pleased to award its 2023 Helen Strobl Memorial Scholarship Award to Andrew Reid.
